My pre-poduction journey continued: I put out a producer fire!! This blog post is a follow up to my latest YouTube video:making a short film: my process (Part 2) putting out a producer fire. I will leave a link below. In show business things are always changing sometimes change happens when one least expects it, as a result one needs to be adaptable, and maintain a calm demeanour in order, to not become overwhelmed. For me the challenge I faced was my lead actress dropping out of my short film: In Front Of You - a week and one day before we were meant to start the production, in my new video I break down how I overcame this situation, and managed to come up with a solution. Let me know your thoughts on this blog in the comments. ________________ Listen to Podcast version of my show https://anchor.fm/tunji-joseph ___________________ Follow me on Twitter and Instagram: @tunji_storytime

My Pre-production Journey

Image
My Pre-production Journey This blog post   is an addition to my latest YouTube video- making a short film: my process. I will leave a link below. In previous blog posts I have talked about being in the process of writing a series of short films, and now I am no longer talking the talk, I am walking the walk.   What do I mean by this? I am putting my words and thoughts into action and I am making a short movie, in life people say they will do something and often do not follow through, and by me posting to my blog it keeps me somewhat accountable, so that I can follow through with what I say. My new short film is called: Right In Front Of You. I am the writer, director and producer, and each role allows me explore different aspects of my creativity, as a writer I get to create worlds for actors to explore, as a director I get to hone and shape actors performances, and as a producer I get to hire talented people, I also get collaborate with people who have different skill ...

Luck Of The Draw

Image
Luck Of The Draw Luck Of The Draw was the first project I directed (I will leave a YouTube link below). While I was studying Media Arts for my undergraduate degree. We were given an assignment, out of three pieces of music choose one and create a visual narrative around it, I picked Sequentia: 6. Lacrimosa (a classical piece, this may not ring a bell, but when you hear the song you will recognise it instantly) I picked this song because it sounded dramatic, and this excited me. Going into this assignment I was incredibly nervous because this was the first time I was making a film, and I knew I was responsible for everything! Coming up with the story, getting equipment, finding actors, finding a location, the cinematography, and finally editing the piece. Even though I was nervous about the whole thing, being pushed in at the deep end of the pool has helped me grow tremendously as a director. As I mentioned earlier Luck Of The Draw was the first time I was a director and cinematog...

THE TYPES OF MEDIA I USE

Image
THE TYPES OF MEDIA I USE ( Photo by   Julius Drost on   Unsplash ) I was recently watching old episodes of Hot One’s on YouTube that I previously skipped over. (a show where people eating increasingly spicy chicken wings while being interviewed) I came across the the Gary Vee episode, for those of you who are not aware, Gary Vee is an entrepreneur, motivational speaker and digital marketing expert. If you have not seen this episode of Hot One’s, I would encourage you to do so, Gary divulges a lot of great information. One of the things I took away from the Interview was this: When releasing videos on YouTube, If you have a blog, release a short summary of your latest video on your blog, the blog post doesn't need to be long, four paragraphs is enough, and if people like what they read then they can then follow a link to watch your video, apart from giving a brief summary I like the idea of giving the reader behind the scenes information, as I feel this will give the rea...

BLIND (SHORT FILM) OVERVIEW

Image
BLIND (SHORT FILM) OVERVIEW Welcome back! In todays blog post I am going to be talking about BLIND, the short film I directed in my third year of university. (a YouTube link to BLIND is below) I have been sitting on BLIND for a few years, but I just feel it is the right time to share this movie with the world.   BLIND was the first movie I directed, admittedly the film is not as sleek as I would like it to be, however I believe there is a compelling story, and the two leads of my film,   Aaron and Jess grip you from the first frame to the last. BLIND is a modern retelling of Bonnie and Clyde set in Twickenham, South West London. The Original script was written by a wonderful writer: Sharmarni, and shot beautifully by Ernest, my producing partner (Paul) and I took the script and changed aspects of it. We shot BLIND over two days, and two weeks after principal photography we did an additional half day of filming.   As I re-watch BLIND, in hindsight there are a number...

How I got a voice over agent - Overview This blog post is an overview of the: How I got a voice over agent video that I uploaded to my YouTube channel, a link to the video is below. I have also put a link to the audio version below. As an actor if you want to get work there are a number of things you need, a CV (resume) listing your credits, a showreel, and if you want to do any form of voice work you need to have a voice reel, this is a short compilation of voice clips, that is used to sell yourself to agents, producers and casting directors. In the video I talked about the process of finding a voice reel company, and how I prepared for the recording session, I talked about what happened during the recording session, I also talked about what happened after the recording session, in regards to receiving my voice files.   In my video I name the voice reel company I used, feel free to use them, however I would like to point out there are other voice reel companies out there, t...
