How I got a voice over agent - Overview
This blog post is an overview of the: How I got a voice over agent video that I uploaded to my YouTube channel, a link to the video is below. I have also put a link to the audio version below.
As an actor if you want to get work there are a number of things you need, a CV (resume) listing your credits, a showreel, and if you want to do any form of voice work you need to have a voice reel, this is a short compilation of voice clips, that is used to sell yourself to agents, producers and casting directors.
In the video I talked about the process of finding a voice reel company, and how I prepared for the recording session, I talked about what happened during the recording session, I also talked about what happened after the recording session, in regards to receiving my voice files.
In my video I name the voice reel company I used, feel free to use them, however I would like to point out there are other voice reel companies out there, two things you should look out for are the following: first, when looking on websites ask yourself ‘Do these clips sound good?’ If the answer is no, look at another company. Secondly look for companies that will give you the best bang for your buck.
Once you have your voice reel, then you can write to voice agents, keep your e mail concise and to the point. Expect rejection. In the video I talk about my experience of writing to voice agents, and how I eventually got my voice agent.
